Peter Thomsen, Geologist and Chief Consultant
“One day, I’m knee-deep in mud, getting my hands dirty – the next day I’m in a formal meeting with a minister from Taiwan."
My job
I work in Ramboll’s department for Water & Natural Resources in Aarhus. For 15 years, I have worked on mapping the Danish groundwater resources, which is an important part of preserving our clean drinking water. In many parts of the world, clean drinking water is in short supply. But the experience we’ve gained here in Denmark can be used to develop a more sustainable water supply in other countries around the world. It’s exciting to see that the work I do truly matters.
No two days are alike
Working with groundwater mapping, I get to come to work every day and do something that I’m passionate about. One day, I’m knee-deep in mud, getting my hands dirty – the next day I’m in a formal meeting with a minister from Taiwan, or maybe I’ll spend an entire day in front of the computer. And I look forward to all of it.
